Majestic Lakes of Chile – Part I

This is the first of a three day crossing of the Andes from Western Chile to Argentina. It was on a small craft and I had a boutique lakeside hotel every night between sailings with great food and wine. Really tough-- huh?

On the lakes crossing  we sailed by four of the many dormant volcanoes of which this was the most formidable as it was the closest.

The opacity of Lake Espejo is created by the glacial schist rubbing together creating this intense color. From a distance it looks like someone poured a bucket of aqua paint into a depression.
