We sat every evening on the porch at dusk and watched this soul soothing view of Ta’aha

I can’t explain the light in this photograph. I took this image at 11:30 AM. It stands alon

The density of the water looked and felt like gold jello. I have never experienced anything like it on my visits to over sixty islands world wide.I never looked away until we touched the shore of our remote resort

Curacao Aerial

Flying between Bonaire and Curacao in the Caribbean revealed this aerial view that was like an abstract painting. The dark area on the right is the shoreline. The light wavy lines are sand formations close to the water’s surface. The white formations right and upper right were the clouds below us. Nature creates pure art.

LET ME TAKE YOU ON A FANTASY TRIP

Imagine a village that exists on earth that is as beautiful and peaceful as an illustration in a fairy tale book. This is Loen, Norway. I suddenly discovered this paradise while cruising the Norwegian fjords.

One of the oldest farm communities in Norway it rests at the tip of the fjord.

Sweet little gardens give color to the green landscape.

The church built in 1838 overlooks the serenity of the village.

The pristine houses nestled on the shores of the fjord seem to welcome the stranger.

“The Power” – Isla Mujeres, Mexico

“The Power” because of its powerful impact on the viewer. This was one of those shots of a lifetime on Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Walking back to my hotel at 11:30 AM I glanced left and saw this wooden dock making it vanishing point into the Caribbean. That impact and the jaw-dropping formation of clouds above it and the slivers of light playing on the aqua water in the distance against the dark water created by the clouds produced this image. I caught a rare, fleeting moment in nature and was able to capture it. This is why photographers do what they do.”

Monterey Bay Jelly

“Photographing these Monterey Bay jellyfish was a pleasure because no matter how they moved and undulated they always made a perfect visual composition. It’s like photographing Marilyn Monroe who had an ongoing love affair with the camera.”

Greenland: A Land of Floating Sculptures

Greenland-Penile iceberg 1-4-0-1A-01-73-01 copy copy

On an amazing sailing from Nunavut, Canada to Greenland, in the Greenland fjords we sailed past endless numbers of icebergs that resembled floating sculptures. As we moved past them the shapes changed as we saw them from various perspectives and the sunlight altered the light and shadows on them. It was the true meaning of the word ‘awesome’.

See the tiny figure of the captain on the ship’s bridge to the right? I captured this image just before sunset at about 10:30 PM. near the town of Ilitek.

I call this image a dreamscape as it is surreal in the symetry of the curving lines as though it was sculpted. It was sculpted — by the best artist of all — nature.

MAJESTIC LAKES OF CHILE – PART II

Viewing the Andes from a series of Chilean Lake crossing is a truly awesome experience. This area is the beginning of the Patagonia, a region famous for its dramatic mountain formations.

This is one of five lakeside hotels I stayed at crossing the Chilean Andes to Argentina. The cuisine in all of the hotels was superb.

On lakes near the Argentina border with Chile, there are a small number of idyllic private properties accessible only by water that provide a personal Shangri-La to the owners.
